Water Resources Engineer Promoted into Project Management
Austin Rieder, PE, recently was promoted to the first level of project management at Ayres. He is based in the Eau Claire, Wisconsin, office, and he is a project manager in the Water Resources Group.
Rieder joined Ayres in 2018 and benefits clients with his experience in the design of dam repairs, replacements, and removals; hydrologic and hydraulic design of bridges and culverts; scour analysis; and dam inspection.
Rieder enjoys working on challenging projects that prepare him well for his future project management responsibilities, such as a current dam replacement design that includes replacing a bridge directly upstream of the dam. And a recent dam project in which the existing historic limestone block arch dam was repaired and reinforced with pile caissons just upstream of the dam.
“Austin is a very calm and cordial person, even in the midst of contractor chaos and permitting challenges,” says Pete Haug, PE, water resources manager. “He’s got a fun sense of humor too. With his great people skills and calming personality, I look forward to seeing Austin blossom in his new responsibilities.”
Rieder holds professional engineer licensure in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, and Wyoming. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Minnesota State University-Mankato.
He will benefit from Ayres’ extensive project management training and will assist senior project managers in overseeing project tasks. Rieder will increasingly work directly with clients, collaborating on decisions that shape project designs and outcomes.
