WisDOT Prestressed Girder Inspection Master Contract

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) retained Ayres under a master contract to provide prestressed girder and retaining wall panel inspection quality assurance at prestress plants in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and La Crescent, Minnesota, and other plants as necessary.
This project provides a measure of Ayres staff’s expertise, as it requires knowledge of proper production; the ability to recognize potential problems with methods of sampling fresh concrete; knowledge of standard test methods for slump of portland cement concrete, unit weight, and yield; and the ability to make and cure concrete test specimens. The project requires understanding the requirements for prestressing strand and proper placement of reinforcement steel in WisDOT-designed girders and retaining wall panels.
