Ayres was retained to provide design and related services for the rehabilitation of 6 miles of US 18/Bluemound Road in Waukesha County.
Ayres prepared three Type 3 Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) for arterial streets; participated in public involvement and project development meetings; completed roadway design; developed construction traffic signal system timing and phasing; and prepared plans, specifications, and estimates for improvements to US 18 from Calhoun Road to 124th Street.
Traffic conditions under construction staging were evaluated using a Synchro model. This model was also used to develop the traffic signal timing parameters during construction. A study and analysis were performed to evaluate the impacts of constructing indirect left-turn treatments, similar to treatments known as Michigan Left Turns, at many of the signalized intersections along the corridor. A Synchro traffic model was used to assist in the study.
