University of South Florida Chilled Water Central Plant to Fine Arts

Using ground penetrating radar (GPR), our team identified underground anomalies in the area of this proposed utility corridor. Surveys located lines on University of South Florida atlas maps. Approximately two days of electronic subsurface exploration and eight days of vacuum excavation were completed to locate existing utilities within the proposed utility corridor and proposed pipe route. All traceable underground utilities, depths, and types of pipes were identified on-site using paint markings and driven stakes. Potholes were dug using vacuum excavation to determine exact sizes and depths of utilities identified with the electronic locators and GPR. We coordinated the GPR field crew, utility locators, and topographic surveyor. Topographic information was gathered for the project area.

Our design development team worked around USF’s holiday shutdown. We determined the best pipe route and drafted a schematic pipe design, and meetings were held with USF staff to go over the design, followed by generation of 80% and 100% construction documents. We provided general construction observation.
