US 8 Pavement Replacement and Roundabout Design

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Northwest Region, retained Ayres to prepare preliminary and final plans for pavement replacement on US 8/STH 35 in St. Croix Falls. WisDOT contracted separately with Ayres to design the US 8/208th Street intersection as a roundabout.
The 2.3-mile pavement replacement project included joint repair and overlay of an existing brake check area; agency and utility coordination; reports; a Transportation Management Plan; and final plans, specifications, and estimates. The cross culverts were inspected to determine if replacement was required. The pavement replacement project was designed in accordance with 3R standards and included staged construction with temporary traffic signals to manage traffic during construction.
