Ulmerton Road Sewer & Water, 119th Street to Long Branch Canal
« Return to Project SearchThe Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) completed several roadway improvements to SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) from east of 119th Street to west of Long Branch Canal in Pinellas County. The 1.5-mile project extended along SR 688, Ridge Road, Seminole Boulevard, and 101st Street. The improvements consisted of road milling and resurfacing, road widening, concrete sidewalk construction at various locations, median extensions and adjustment, sound barrier wall construction, drainage improvements, pond construction, lighting, signing, and signalization. Affected by the roadway improvements were Pinellas County’s 25,000 linear feet of 2-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, 12-inch, 20-inch, 24-inch and 30-inch water mains; 8,500 linear feet of 6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch sanitary sewer; and 1,500 linear feet of 6-inch force mains.
Our team prepared a sanitary survey of the existing distribution system to determine the condition of the facilities, including pump systems and other network requirements. We were commissioned to ascertain the impact of the proposed construction, meet and coordinate with FDOT concerning the disposition of the County’s facilities, prepare red-green-brown (RGB) plans, Utility Work By Highway Contractor Agreement (UWHCA) plans, utility work schedule, cost estimate, three-way checklist, technical special provisions, and electronic submittals to FDOT. We also prepared the permit application packages for submittal to the required regulatory agencies.
As part of this project, our experts developed construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. We evaluated the condition and capacity of the water and sewer systems, developed the disinfection and flushing program and the flow and leak testing for the new construction, and observed and certified the tests during construction. We developed maintenance-of-traffic plans and maintenance-of-service plans for the utility. We provided construction observation, coordination with the contractor, prompt responses for clarification, and as-builts geo-rectified with GPS.
