Tropicana Field Rails to Trails Bridge Design

The City of St. Petersburg retained Ayres to design the conversion of a railroad trestle bridge near Tropicana Field to a multi-use trail. The project included evaluating the railroad trestle for condition and future loads, as well as designing the curved bridge and concrete approaches.
Ayres coordinated the project with Pinellas County, the agency that will maintain the bridge, and with the Florida Department of Transportation, as the work was done under a Local Agency Program (LAP) agreement. The superstructure and railing were selected to fit in with the surrounding area.
