Teutonia Avenue & Bradley Road Intersection Study & Roundabout
« Return to Project SearchMilwaukee County retained Ayres to provide an intersection control evaluation (ICE) report for the skewed intersection of North Teutonia Avenue and West Bradley Road. The existing intersection’s skew and Teutonia’s wide median were causing operational and safety problems.
The ICE report compared the existing configuration with three alternatives: new traffic signals, a narrowed Teutonia Avenue median with new traffic signals, and a single-lane roundabout. Milwaukee County selected the single-lane roundabout alternative based on recommendations from the ICE report and coordination with the Village of Brown Deer.
The Ayres team then provided design services for the single-lane roundabout, which were incorporated into a larger mill and overlay project completed by the County for Teutonia Avenue from Good Hope Road to West Bradley Road. Ayres also assisted with a public involvement meeting for the roundabout to help win support for the project. Through a separate contract with the Village of Brown Deer, Ayres also provided lighting and landscape architecture services.
