STH 310 Resurfacing and Roundabouts
« Return to Project SearchAyres worked with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Northeast Region to improve the safety of STH 310 from CTH R to Columbus Street at the west limits of Two Rivers. Numerous accidents had occurred at the CTH R, CTH Q, and CTH B intersections, and all three intersections qualified for Highway Safety Improvement Program funding. This project had previously been in development by the Northeast Region. The project included resurfacing a 5-mile section of STH 310 roadway and constructing the roundabouts at the three county highway intersections.
A railroad crossing report was completed for the crossing with STH 310. Through coordination with the Northeast Region, a letter was sent to Canadian National Railway for the railroad to construct a new crossing surface with signals and gates to be completed before the STH 310 project was finished. The Trans 220 process was followed for utility coordination, in addition to holding a utility coordination meeting.
The design of the CTH Q roundabout required accommodations for 190-foot-long trucks to transport large wind turbine components manufactured in the City of Manitowoc.
