Shady Hills Road/Softwood Lane/Crela Lane Signal Design
« Return to Project SearchWhen a student at Crews Lake Middle School in Spring Hill, Florida, convinced Pasco County officials that safety demanded signalization of the Shady Hills Road/Softwind Lane/Crela Drive intersection just outside the school, the County looked to Ayres for an extremely accelerated design effort to make it possible to turn what was a proposal in July 2017 into a reality by the start of the school year.
Ayres delivered plans two weeks later for the installation of a span wire traffic signal system. Typically the design process would take several months. The project increased safety in general and pedestrian safety in particular.
Placing new loop detectors and conduit paths required extensive interaction with the County, utility companies, and Ayres’ subsurface utility locating group to avoid encountering any utility conflicts in the field during the quick-turnaround project.
This project was delivered as part of a County-wide engineering support services contract for traffic design, traffic analyses, safety analyses, and traffic remediation.
