Leo Frigo Bridge Rehabilitation Observation

Ayres provided construction observation for rehabilitating the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge over the Fox River, the Atkinson Drive bridge over I-43, and the Military Avenue bridge over I-43; and completing roadway maintenance along approximately 6.5 miles of I-43 and along the interchange ramps at Webster Avenue and Atkinson Drive.
Bridge work included milling the concrete deck surface, completing deck repairs, and placing new concrete overlay. The Frigo Bridge and Military Avenue structure required replacement of expansion joints. Rehabilitating the Frigo Bridge also included replacing the modular joints, strip seal joints, pin and hanger plate assemblies, and pins of the movable bearings of the 450-foot arch span; installing preformed foam joint seals; replacing downspouts; and blast-cleaning and painting the outside face of the steel girders.
