Hayward Downtown Street & Utility Improvements
« Return to Project SearchThe City of Hayward retained Ayres to assist with the grant funding, design, bidding, and construction of its downtown street and utility projects. The projects consisted of the reconstruction of Main Street from USH 63 to 5th Street and 3rd and 4th Streets from Main Street to Kansas Avenue, as well as the rehabilitation of the interceptor sewer from 5th Street to Nyman Avenue.
Ayres helped the City to obtain Community Development Block Grant for Public Facilities funding for the project and provided grant administration services.
The reconstructions included water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, downtown sidewalks, and urban roadway improvements in the heart of this tourist town’s business district.
Services included a topographical survey, downtown business design meetings, preliminary and final design documents, and construction and bidding phase services.
The project involved extensive outreach to project stakeholders and went so smoothly that construction was completed a month ahead of schedule, allowing these critical streets to open before Memorial Day instead of in late June.
