The Sauk County Parks Department retained Ayres to evaluate the Delton Dam on Mirror Lake and repair the Lake Redstone Dam.
The Delton Dam required a dam failure analysis and evaluation of the existing concrete dam, site layout, and boat landing. Ayres designed concrete repairs for the dam, including structural modifications to the existing spillway. Adjacent to the dam was an old boat landing. Ayres designed a new landing incorporating pre-cast concrete panels. The design included a new access ramp to the boat landing and new retaining walls for grade modifications.
Ayres prepared an Emergency Action Plan and an Inspection, Operation, and Maintenance Plan for the Lake Redstone Dam and submitted them to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). The earthen embankment and downstream left abutment were analyzed for structural stability, and plans for stabilizing these structures were submitted to Sauk County and the WDNR for review. Ayres prepared the WDNR permits, prepared bid documents, assisted with construction administration, and prepared final record drawings and a letter of conformity per WDNR requirements.
