Cumberland Water Tower

When stimulus grant funding became available in 2009, Ayres met challenging deadlines to help Cumberland receive a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources low-interest loan and grant to finance much-needed water system improvements. Ayres completed final project plans and specifications in less than three weeks to meet a WDNR application deadline.
After receiving the $1.2 million loan and $1.2 million grant, the Cumberland Municipal Utilities retained Ayres to design a new 600,000-gallon composite water tower, extension of 1,700 linear feet of water main, upgrades to the City wells to provide water to the new tower, installation of a backup generator, and removal of the existing water tower. Ayres also coordinated soil boring installation, completed topographic survey, and provided site design for the access road, parking, tower overflow, and stormwater control.
Design of SCADA system upgrades in 2010 included new controllers, radio technology, and enclosures. SCADA upgrades included monitoring at the new water tower site, four new well sites, and the municipal utilities shop and office. Ayres also provided grant administration and construction services.
