Bubolz Nature Preserve Center Architectural Design
« Return to Project SearchFaith Technologies hired Ayres to provide architectural and interior design services for the Bubolz Nature Preserve Center in Grand Chute, Wisconsin. This project consisted of demolishing their existing facility and replacing it with a new 16,300-square-foot, two-story building.
The new building provides two levels of exhibit space, sub-dividable multipurpose rooms, banquet rooms with catering kitchen, classrooms, a conference room, a gift shop, and staff offices. The structure’s design takes advantage of the site’s natural topography and views out to the nature preserve. Many site challenges had to be addressed in the design, such as sloping topography, memorial trees that were preserved, and an existing structure adjacent to the site. The building’s interior features repurposed wood and locally sourced materials, helping to bring to life the many displays of wildlife throughout the two levels.
Ayres worked closely with staff to make sure the design reflects their mission statement: “Dedicated to developing a sound environmental ethic in persons of all ages through education, recreation, and conservation, while promoting a strong sense of overall wellness and appreciation of nature.”
