ATC Access Road (Boscobel to Lone Rock)
« Return to Project SearchAyres assisted with the replacement of a transmission line along a 30-mile corridor between Boscobel and Lone Rock in southwest Wisconsin. A significant task of this project involved design and plan preparation for a new 1.5-mile access road to aid in the construction of the new line on the bluffs above the Wisconsin River and to serve as an access route for future line maintenance. Timber mat roads were used during construction to provide a stable access route for large equipment negotiating steep terrain, as well as to prevent possible erosion during the work.
As a subconsultant to Electrical Consultants, Inc., which is a subconsultant to American Transmission Company, Ayres assisted in coordinating with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) staff to oversee compliance with WisDOT policies and standards along new transmission lines being constructed near highways. Ayres prepared traffic control plans and necessary permits for working within WisDOT right-of-way.
