Arizona DOT Bridge Inspections
« Return to Project SearchAyres, as a subconsultant to AECOM, was selected by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to assist the Bridge Management Section (BMS) in complying with the National Bridge Inspections Standards (NBIS) for bridge inspection statewide.
Services required detailed (in-depth, fracture critical, underwater, and damage) inspection types, as well as safety (routine) inspection, emergency bridge inspection, special inspection, scour evaluations, scour plan of action, development and implementation of traffic control plans where required, and bridge load rating.
Ayres provided all staff and equipment required to complete the inspections, reports, and evaluations, supplying inspection teams that met the NBIS, including a qualified team leader.
The teams accessed bridges using ladders, rope access and rock climbing techniques, or diving equipment. For rope access inspections, Ayres followed the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians standards and OSHA requirements for personal fall protection systems. All reports were provided in ADOT’s ABISS program or its successor.
