Nikunj Mathukiya, PE, LEED GA, has been named electrical discipline leader for the Minnesota group within Ayres’ Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing division, bringing six years of experience to this supervisory role.

Mathukiya will forge long-term relationships with clients and consulting partners as he performs electrical engineering duties, provides quality assurance/quality control, and supervises the St. Paul electrical engineering staff. He has experience leading engineering efforts on electrical power, lighting, and systems design, including controls and instrumentation. That experience will help him to align the right people to the right work.

Mathukiya provides electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy. He’ll be mentoring and coaching members of his team, empowering them to develop their skills and flourish in their careers.

“Nikunj believes in the mantras ‘your power lies in your people’ and ‘teams build dreams,’ ” says Dan Fox, director of MEP Services in St. Paul. “He has lots of energy, and I suspect he will be inspiring our electrical staff to their full potential in no time. He’s passionate about bringing in work and delivering exceptional engineering.”

Mathukiya will concentrate on making sure MEP is meeting the needs of our current electrical engineering clients. He has worked in the electrical consultant side of the industry as well as in electrical contracting and within a utility company, so he understands projects from many angles. He has been a project engineer, field engineer, project manager, engineering lead, and regional engineering lead/manager on many engineer/procure/construct projects for Xcel, Minnesota Power, and a range of other clients. Mathukiya has designed and developed grid modernization projects. He is experienced in leading project teams of up to 40 people on projects worth up to $10 million. He has developed training programs and handled staff resource management.

Mathukiya holds professional engineer licensure in Minnesota, and he just achieved his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Associate credentials. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in India, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University, and a master’s in engineering management from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.
