Karns Proves Leadership Skills, Receives Project Management Promotion
Brett Karns, PLS, recently was promoted to the next level of project management at Ayres. He sought out the opportunity to lead Ayres’ Waukesha survey efforts, and he is doing exactly that with his calm, down-to-business demeanor.
Karns has taken the bull by the horns on a number of initiatives, including increasing the visibility of Ayres’ ALTA survey services with blog content on Ayres’ website and working with our business development experts to expand our survey opportunities in southeastern Wisconsin.
“Clients appreciate Brett’s steady leadership style,” says Brian Glaszcz, PLS, manager of the Southern Midwest Survey group. “Brett has stepped up wherever there is a need, and he has excelled at mentoring and providing structure for our junior staff.”
Karns has been a professional land surveyor since 2008 and previously worked in construction management. He is a retired engineer officer who served two tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Kuwait with the U.S. Army Reserves, including time as director of public works for an 8,000-person base camp.
Karns has significant experience in ALTA surveys, topographical surveys, subdivision maps, parcel base mapping, and construction staking. Brett’s extensive experience allows him to manage clients’ expectations and his team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Karns holds professional land surveyor licensure in Wisconsin. He earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in civil engineering technology from Madison Area Technical College and a bachelor’s degree in construction management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
