The Bridges of Wisconsin
Our Wisconsin structural design group is on a mission: design a new structure or repairs to an existing structure in every county in Wisconsin.
After digging through our records, we found we’re oh-so-close to meeting this goal. Of the 72 counties in Wisconsin, Adams County is the only one where our structural designers have not worked in the 55 years Ayres Associates has been in business.
While Adams County, near the center of the state, has fewer stream crossings than many other counties in Wisconsin, it still has bridges that need to be designed from time to time. We’ve just never had the pleasure of working on one of them.
“We really get to know the state well here in the Structures Group,” said Dave Pantzlaff, manager of Wisconsin structural engineering. “And as far as Adams County goes, eventually we’ll have the good fortune to work on a bridge there.”
The records show we started designing bridges in Wisconsin in 1966 with Chippewa County Highway “S” over the Yellow River. We’ve been going strong ever since, designing close to 1,500 bridges either as new crossings or bridge replacements. Our clients range from the tiniest of towns to the federal government, from tribal nations to railroads, from private individuals to large corporations.
As proof of our structural work in the other 71 counties, we’ve included a list of structures we’ve designed in Wisconsin’s counties (one per county) to accompany the map above showing off some of our Wisconsin structures.
