Nik Anderson, GISP, project manager in Ayres’ Aerial Mapping Group, was re-elected to the Wisconsin Land Information Association’s Board of Directors, the WLIA announced at last week’s annual conference in Appleton.

Anderson has been on the board since 2021, and his upcoming term will bring his tenure to six years. He just completed his third year as chair of WLIA’s Legislative Committee, which monitors proposed legislation and assesses how it may affect the land information community. It is also sometimes called upon to help craft new legislation to improve funding and processes for state residents and land information professionals.

When asked about WLIA’s impact on the broader land information and geospatial community, Anderson responded: “Many individuals may not be fully aware, but each day leaders within our community are actively engaged in efforts to enhance our profession. This includes advocating for increased funding for land information, developing technical best practices and guidance documents, and facilitating an environment that encourages collaboration and networking among professionals. As a result, WLIA members and the state of Wisconsin reap significant benefits from the diligent work of our association. I feel fortunate and honored to play a small role in these efforts, and I am very proud of the excellent work all of our committees accomplish on a daily basis.”

Adam Derringer, GISP, senior project manager in the Aerial Mapping Group, added: “Ayres has a long history with the land information community in Wisconsin – and of leadership through WLIA. Board members give a lot of their own time to improve our profession and services to the state. To be elected three times says a lot about what Nik has given to our community. It is wonderful to see Nik carry on Ayres’ tradition of giving back.”

With eight years of experience in geospatial sciences, Anderson is a leader in GIS (geographic information systems), UAS (unmanned aerial systems), geospatial technology, and geomorphic processes. Well-networked in the geospatial community, he works with communities and businesses to integrate remote sensing and GIS solutions into their processes. Anderson’s many specialties include economic development; natural resource management; and analysis of land acquisition, property management, and environmental remediation. Among his clients are local governments and utilities.

Anderson is a certified geographic information systems professional (GISP). He earned a bachelor’s degree in comprehensive environmental geography, with an emphasis in GIS, from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
