Leary Takes on Full SUE Project Management Duties
Joseph Leary has been promoted to the next level as a project manager in Ayres’ subsurface utility engineering (SUE) team, with full project management responsibilities. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Leary brings both technical and communication skills to his fast-paced work ushering SUE and utility coordination projects through the planning and design phases.
Leary has worked closely with municipalities to provide timely SUE deliverables, using his communication skills and dedication to build professional relationships with clients and utility owners. He has a strong technical background in Civil 3D and has used ArcGIS to maintain underground utility geodatabases. Leary has managed GIS implementation, data migration, and configuration projects for large municipalities and private companies.
Leary collaborates effectively with SUE technicians, CADD designers, surveyors, and engineers, and he communicates with utility companies to obtain and compile existing utility information. His project leadership is founded on a solid understanding of utilities, his strong planning and project task coordination skills, and a genuine focus on safety and quality work.
“Joseph has wasted no time building trust and proving his leadership skills,” says Dale Mathison, PE, supervisor of SUE and survey in Fort Collins. “He is quick to identify utility conflicts, and his communication skills shine through as he works with clients, design teams, and utilities to resolve those conflicts.”
Leary holds a bachelor’s degree in geoenvironmental science from the University of North Carolina-Pembroke.
