ATC Madison to La Crosse Transmission Line
« Return to Project SearchElectrical Consultants, Inc., (ECI) retained Ayres to assist with alternative analysis and conceptual layout of its Badger Coulee 345 kV electric transmission line from west of Madison to just north of La Crosse. As a subconsultant to ECI, which was a subconsultant to American Transmission Company, Ayres coordinated with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) staff to make sure new transmission lines near existing highways complied with WisDOT policies and standards. Ayres documented this coordination process with WisDOT with the development of a constructability report for the project. Ayres then led the coordination between ATC and WisDOT through the final design and construction of the project by organizing monthly meetings for over three years and preparing all of the permit applications required for construction within WisDOT highway right-of-way.
Permit preparation also included the development of complex traffic control plans that required close coordination with WisDOT traffic engineering staff. After several years of planning, design, and construction, the Badger Coulee line was completed at the end of 2018.
