Douglas County Sleepy Valley Loop over Middle River Bridge
« Return to Project SearchThe Town of Lakeside, Douglas County, hired Ayres to design the replacement of the bridge carrying Sleepy Valley Loop over the Middle River. The existing steel truss bridge was determined eligible for the National Historic Register. Removal of the historic bridge was mitigated through photographic documentation of the bridge and development of website content for use by nearby historical societies.
The new bridge is an 80-foot-long single-span prestressed concrete girder. The bridge deck is sloped to the east to match up with a tight curve in the road just off the end of the bridge. Services included survey; wetland delineations; historic bridge evaluation; environmental document; design reports; road and bridge design; preliminary and final plans; right-of-way plat; cost estimates; and plans, specifications, and estimates.
