Mary Huisenga has joined Ayres’ Western Division as a senior project manager in the Stream and Stormwater Group.

Based in Fort Collins, Huisenga has over 15 years of experience, specializing in project management, watershed science, and water resource planning. With a strong focus on building lasting relationships with clients, Huisenga helps those clients to navigate their complex projects through processes involving city, state, and federal agencies. Her expertise encompasses hazard assessments, water quality assessments, sediment transport analysis, and restoration ecology, enabling her to guide comprehensive watershed evaluations.

Huisenga excels in leading agency consultations, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and providing expert testimony to ensure successful project outcomes. She also has played a pivotal role in natural resource damage assessments (NRDAs) and in securing permits for complex, multiple-state projects, all while fostering strong communication with clients and partners.

“A successful watershed project includes communicating to and understanding the needs of a diverse stakeholder group as well as navigating what can be a complex permitting landscape.” says Dusty Robinson, PE, supervisor for the river systems health discipline within the Stream and Stormwater Group. “Mary brings skills and experience in our business that will help our team continue to serve our clients by solving complex water related issues.”

Huisenga holds a master’s degree in geography from the University of Colorado Boulder and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Iowa.
