An Eye to the Future
Career Expo 2014 gave dozens of teens plenty to think about. The February 24 event at Ayres’ Eau Claire headquarters gave about 130 guests – mostly eighth-graders and high school students and their parents – a glimpse of what engineers, architects, surveyors, structural inspectors, and environmental scientists do all day. From roads to culverts to landfills, they saw presentations on the projects Ayres completes – straight from the men and women who do the work.
They even had the opportunity to compete in contests in which they built paper bridges and aluminum foil boats.
We’ll do it all over again in two years when Career Expo 2016 rolls around. In the meantime, Ayres professionals occasionally visit classrooms to talk to students about engineering-related work, so feel free to contact us if you would like to inquire about a visit for your classroom or group.
