Winnebago County Oregon Street Bridge Painting
« Return to Project SearchThe Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Northeast Region, retained Ayres to provide construction observation for the repainting of the Oregon Street Bridge over the Fox River in Oshkosh.
The project consisted of removing the existing lead-based paint system on all of the structural steel surfaces of the approaching spans and throughout the bascule span, a total of approximately 73,500 square feet, followed by repainting with a three-coat moisture-cure urethane paint system. The structural steel within both machine rooms and in the counterweights also was blast-cleaned and painted.
The new paint system will help extend the life of the more-than-50-year-old structure. The new color of the bridge was selected to blend in with the surrounding buildings and to enhance the historic downtown business district.
