Bush Brothers Warehouse Site Design

Bush Brothers & Company retained Ayres to provide site civil engineering services relating to the design of a one-story addition of approximately 237,000 square feet to the east and south sides of a warehouse at its Augusta, Wisconsin, operations.

Ayres assisted with stormwater analysis; wetland mitigation permitting; site stormwater improvements for trailer and employee parking; site utility design and municipal utilities including storm sewer, water main, and a new outfall; roadway and parking design; and survey services. New wells to provide water to the production facility were sited, and new well houses were designed and constructed.

In addition, Ayres provided coordination with railroad officials, the City of Augusta, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including permitting, approvals, and exploration of project funding opportunities.

A key component of the project was bringing a rail spur inside the warehouse. Before completing the project, only two rail cars could be loaded at a time. Bush Brothers now can load eight cars at a time, all inside the warehouse.

The building was designed to be expanded another 200 feet to the east without requiring any additional site grading, stormwater design, utility relocations, or rail reconstruction.
